On this mobile camping tour safari, you will enjoy the beauty of the capital city of Botswana, Gaborone and you’ll enjoy camping in Mokolodi nature reserve and Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Both places offer you an opportunity to observe fascinating behavior of the wildlife that includes antelope species, warthog, leopard, brown hyena and white rhino. Enjoy a warm welcome when your small group visits a village, and exchange stories with your travel companions around a fire under a star-filled African sky. In the morning, wake to birdsong and begin another day on the safari of your dreams. You’ll experience mobile tented camps, game-viewing drives and guided walks with guide, and local village visits. From Africa’s spectacular big game to its colorful local cultures—this is the ultimate Botswana safari experience.

This tour can run either direction. Normally it starts from Gaborone. A pack lunch and water are provided for en-route to the hills. Our guests are encouraged to stick to limited one soft bag type per person maximum weight of 15kg excluding your carry-on hand bags. Tents are canvas two-man dome type with built in mosquito nets, ease to erect your own or with assistant from our crew.

All are meals on mobile camping safari, (unless stipulated) are cooked on open fire by our guide/ cook.  Light breakfast consists of bread or toast, spread cereals, fruits, rusks, eggs and bacon and pancakes. Diner includes pastas, braais, beef seswa, stews and baked bread around the fire. Fresh vegs and salads, will be serviced where possible, note in some areas this will not be possible. Some fresh fruits will be.

Other Things To Note


Day 1-2
Arrival at Sir Seretse Khama International airport where Okswamp guide meet you and transfer you to a camping site in Mokolodi Nature Reserve or similar in town where there is time to freshen up. Mokolodi is located 15-20km from south  of Botswana’s capital city, Gaborone on the road to Lobatse.On your way to Mokolodi Nature Reserve, you will stop by to buy your beers, wines and softs drive or buy at the restaurant within the reserve. You will enjoy different local Tswana cuisine tasty meals from local selected restaurants or hotels (own expenses). Camp sites offers flush toilets and you will have unique experience of showering under stars. Around 19:00hrs (summer and winter) will explore the Reserve on a night game drive in one of their open safari vehicles (approximately 2hours) spotting nocturnal animals.

During dinner you’ll receive a complete overview of the trip and you can ask all you want to know about the country and its people.

Early morning tea and coffee, rusks, cereals will be ready before exploring the Reserve. Enjoy a morning game drive on a 10 seater open safari vehicle for approximately 2 hours, and coming back for lunch or brunch.   Afternoon will have the chance to visit the Mokolodi tamed cheetah and have your pictures taken or enjoy a sundowner game drive followed by dinner in the form of bush braai.


Day 3-4

Early morning tea and coffee, rusks, cereals, eggs and bacon and pancakes will be ready before heading to our next destination. We will spend few times visiting the National Museum, located in the Centre of the city to enjoy the display of Botswana traditional artifacts, crafts and paintings relevant to the country’s natural and cultural heritage. We travel for about 3-5 hours to Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Khama Rhino Sanctuary is a community based wildlife project with the aim of saving the vanishing rhinoceros, and providing economic benefits to the locals. It covers 8585 hectares of Kalahari Sandveld, the sanctuary provides prime habitat for white and black rhino and estimated to have over 30 other animal species and more than 230 species of birds. A park lunch and a bottle of water will be provided. Afternoon, depart for game drive at 4pm or a night drive at 7pm with a local guide around the Sanctuary by their well trained and knowledgeable guide. You have opportunity to see black rhino, leopard, caracal, porcupine, and brown hyena as well as more often seen animals namely; white rhino, zebra, blue wildebeest, giraffe, eland and kudu. Explore the sanctuary on a walk tracking the rhino in the morning with a well-trained guide, and back for lunch at the camp site. Afternoon we go on our last game drive. Two course dinners will follow on an open fire or dinning tent and enjoying the evening around the camp fire.


Day 5:-6

06:30-Early morning tea and coffee, rusks and cereals will be ready before departing to our next destination. The next two days features a wealth of game viewings on land and visit to a local village or cultural tour and mokoro excursion.

08:00-We leave for Maun to our camp site or Kaziikini camp site outside Maun (north/Okavango/Moremi area, approximately 62km from Maun 26km from Moremi south gate) or similar. Activities will include, a full day trip with parked picnic lunch and tea/coffee, cultural tour, and nature walks.  Your guide or cook will quickly prepare some light lunch as you continue freshening up. Afternoon will enjoy our first game-viewing drive around south of Moremi park. Will likely to spot elephants, buffalo and zebra. Dinners will be serviced around open fire or dining tent. Evenings are spent gazing at stars reminiscing about the day’s experiences in the delta.


Day 7:

Early morning tea and coffee, rusks and cereals will be ready before we depart on a full day to Khwai/Moremi area at Magotlo camp site with our parked picnic lunch. After picnic lunch will make our camping ground. Afternoon game will be long coming to camp at night where will have the opportunity to sport bush babies, genet cats, and lions. Dinner will be serviced around open fire or dining tent. Evenings are spent gazing at stars reminiscing about the day’s experiences in the delta.


Day 8:

06:30-Early departure to Maun after morning tea and coffee, rusks, and cereals.

You will be transferred to the airport, or depart for your onwards journey.

NB: Please note this itinerary is very much flexible to suit our guests’ needs. It’s a rough guide of our daily activities and depending on what we might encounter along the way and game sightings. Most water activities are water dependent so if water levels are lower may not be able to do (dugout canoe).
