03C66052 - 4 Days to Etosha & Damaraland

This tour takes you on an adventurous road trip from Windhoek to the biggest wildlife sanctuary in Namibia – Etosha National Park.

Day 1 (Tsumeb)

After picking up all guests from as early as 6 am we shall depart at 7 am to reach Tsumeb just pass noon. We will spend this day in Tsumeb as we prepare for an early morning trip next day to Etosha. Tsumeb is known for being the Paradise town of Namibia for its beautiful big green park and plenty of green trees. After we check in at the hotel guests can freely explore this beautiful town. You can also visit the beautiful Museum to learn more about the history and diverse cultures of Tsumeb. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Hint: Before you go to bed, make sure your electronics get well (re-)charged overnight, including you camera.

Day 2 (Etosha)

Prepare for adventure. Today, we head for the Etosha National Park immediately after breakfast. Wildlife is fond of early morning walk and we shall be right in time to catch up with them as they traverse the beautiful planes of this great pan. After a round of game drive inside the park and visiting well-hidden waterholes of the park we shall take a short break for a light lunch and drinks. Check again whether you got good pictures already, if not, don’t worry, we shall take a second lap inside the park right after the short lunch break. After the break, we will head towards the western part of the park. You will definitely spot more animals, some of which you may even see for the first time. By the end of the day you may have spotted some of the “Big 5” game of Africa. The game drive of the Etosha park will end at Okaukeujo after which we will head to Outjo for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 3 (Twyfelfontein, Brandberg)

On day 3 our journey leads us from Outjo all the way to Twyfelfontein. Of the fountains of Namibia Twyfelfontein is one of the last remaining ones which still has water streaming live out of it albeit its semi-desert environment. After Twyfelfontein we will visit the ‘organ pipes’. These are interesting rock formations that comprise a group of columnar basalts which resemble organ pipes. They are believed to have been formed about 150 million years ago by underground lava which had crystallized over the years and got exposed to earth’s surface. As we proceed on our tour we will learn that this part of Namibia must have exposed to volcanic activity at some stage in its history. This becomes quite clear from our visit to the Brandberg mountain (“the burnt mountain”), not far from the ‘organ pipes’. The Brandberg is believed to have also resulted from a solidified lava flow about 80 million years ago. The mountain ridges are one of the tallest in the country with Brandberg itself being the tallest mountain in Namibia. Lunch will be served at the Twyfelfontein restaurant. This double-storey restaurant with its beautiful African style set-up provides an outstanding view across the landscape from the dining area.  After lunch, we will visit more attractions in the area including the Damara living museum known for showcasing one of the ancient cultures of the area. After touring the area we will head back to our lodge where we will be accommodated for the night. Dinner will be served at the lodge.
